The Friends of the Cardiff-by-the-Sea Library are offering four $1,500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors this year. Eligible applicants must reside in the 92007 or 92024 zip codes, must currently be completing their senior year of high school, must be planning to attend a college, university, or trade school in 2019, and have their own valid San Diego County Library card. To apply, students must submit a 500-word maximum essay addressing how their library experiences have influenced their education and why they are planning to pursue a post-secondary education, as well as describe any special interests and extracurricular activities.

The deadline to apply is May 1 by 6 p.m. A panel of judges selected from the community will evaluate the applications, essays, and supporting materials, and choose the top four candidates. Winners will be notified on or before May 29. Applications are available online or at the Cardiff-by-the-Sea Library. For details visit www.friendscardifflibrary.org/scholarship.
