Encinitas’ Skate Rising program, run by Exposure Skate, teaches local girls compassion through service and empowerment through skateboarding. Participants meet once a month to learn about a need in the community, help address the need through a community service project, then take part in a skate clinic run by skate industry professionals, allowing each girl to recognize her ability to make a difference within herself, the community, and beyond.

Skate Rising has grown exponentially since its inception less than three years ago, further expanding its outreach to the community along the way. The program held a tour up the coast focused on feeding the homeless, and also participated in an international day of service in which six events were held around the world on the same day focused on anti-bullying, empowerment, and supporting those in need. Skate Rising meets at Encinitas Community Park every second Saturday of the month from 9 to 11 a.m. Learn more at www.exposureskate.org/skaterising.
