Nearly 500 people attended the 6th Annual 5K Paw Walk in the Garden in February, hosted by Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS) and the San Diego Botanic Garden (SDBG). The event featured a scenic 3.1-mile course through the garden for dogs and their owners, as well as pet products, treats, animal-related information and displays, and the popular peanut butter/cream cheese challenge. “The 5K Paw Walk in the Garden has grown so much and so fast,” said Sam Beukema, SDBG Education and Events Manager. “It’s the walk that every dog is begging to go on. Dogs love it. They get excited just driving past the entrance to the garden.” The Paw Walk is the only day of the year when dogs are allowed into the garden.

The event raised approximately $25,000 for RCHS and SDBG. Nancy Hinsch was the top individual fundraiser and Team Drake was the top team fundraiser. For more information visit www.5kpawwalk.org.
