“Changing students’ perceptions of STEM subjects is vital for social mobility and future economic growth, and therefore it’s important to dispel the myth that science, technology, engineering, and math are stuffy and boring,” said LabRats Education Director J. Ryan Merrill. LabRats focuses on creating interactive and engaging experiences that make STEM fun and helps students develop strong character, self-confidence, and passion. The organization also occasionally hosts professional development workshops for parents and teachers. Labs are held at the Boys & Girls Club Griset Branch in Encinitas.
