More than 500 guests recently flocked to the Encinitas Library to experience the Storytellers of San Diego’s 6th Annual Storytelling Festival first-hand. The event was held in conjunction with “World Storytelling Day” and featured folktales that reflected the festival’s theme, which was “Strong Women.” The afternoon was filled with songs, food, and of course, plenty of stories.

There were 28 storytellers overall, including children, veterans, Olympians, and professional storytellers. “I love that the festival demonstrates that oral storytelling is still compelling in today’s busy world,” said Marilyn McPhie, president of Storytellers of San Diego.
