Sugar is the pet of the week at Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS). She’s a 1-1/2-year-old, 7-pound, short haired Orange Tabby.

According to RCHS, Sugar and her sister, Spice, were surrendered to another animal shelter then transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society through the Friends of County Animal Shelters program. Sugar is most comfortable when she has company. That could be her sister, Spice, or another cat or a person. The care providers in the cattery say that Sugar is very easy to handle and she even tolerates being hugged. Spice is more curious and she enjoys exploring her surroundings. Like Sugar, Spice tolerates hugs. Both Sugar and Spice will do well in active homes with active families.

The $100 adoption fee for Sugar (or Spice) or $125 for both includes medical exam, vaccinations, spay, and microchip. Find your best friend at RCHS in Encinitas or log on to www.sdpets.org. Call 760-753-6413 for more information. Kennels and Cattery are open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Monday.
