Hwy 101 Transformed into Pumpkin Lane for 12th Annual Safe Trick or Treat
Encinitas 101 MainStreet continued its night of Safe Trick or Treats on Thursday, October 31, 2o13 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Thanks to presenting sponsor Scripps Health, South Coast Hwy 101 from Encinitas Blvd to K Street was transformed into Pumpkin Lane featuring fantastic, carved pumpkins at different viewing locations. Once again, Pumpkin Lane beckoned all pirates, princesses, witches, wizards, ghouls, gypsies, and mischief makers young and old to safely Trick or Treat on Halloween night.
The monks at Self-Realization Fellowship donated the pumpkins, as well as their time and pumpkin carving expertise to bring Pumpkin Lane to life. These intricately carved pumpkins were on display at Berry Happy Frozen Yogurt, Smog Test Only Center, the Encinitas 101 MainStreet and Self-Realization Fellowship. Forty Downtown merchants passed out treats to over 1,000 children and families. The Lumberyard Courtyard was packed full of children playing Halloween-themed games, courtesy of the 101 Artists Colony, and families dancing to the wonderful music of Bucket Ruckus throughout the evening. The night was complete with a visit to the Queen’s Court, presented by the Self-Realization Fellowship at their bookstore, where the Queen granted the wishes of all trick-or-treaters.
