The Community Resource Center is holding its 18th Annual English Tea on March 23 to raise funding for Carol’s House and other critical programs for households in need of food and shelter assistance.

The event will feature a keynote address by Peter V. Long, Ph.D., president and chief executive officer of Blue Shield of California Foundation, which was established in 2002 to ensure access to quality, affordable care for all Californians, and to end domestic violence. Dr. Long has extensive background in health policy working on issues affecting underserved communities at the state, national, and global levels.

Community leaders attending the event this year include County Supervisor Dave Roberts, Mayor Teresa Barth and Deputy Mary Lisa Shaffer of Encinitas, Councilmember Sherryl Parks of Del Mar, as well as Carol Cianfarani, who inspired the building of Carol’s House, a 24-bed domestic violence shelter in North County. The charity event includes a silent auction, program, and traditional English tea, complete with sandwiches and fresh-brewed tea. Event proceeds will provide essential support to Community Resource Center, which has been a primary provider of social services programs in the North County Coastal area since 1979.

The event will be held on Saturday, March 23 at the Encinitas Community Center located at 1140 Oakcrest Park Drive from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. For more information visit www.crcncc.org or call 760-230-6304
